About Us

At Quest Karate we believe in teaching the best, traditional Isshinryu Karate possible.

We have developed a special program with emphasis on the following:

  • Self-Discipline, Courtesy & Respect

  • Confidence and Character Building

  • Self-Control and resistance to peer pressure and other intimidating situations

  • Movement coordination, physical strength and flexibility

The Chief Instructor at Quest Karate is Tom Kately.  Tom has been training for 15 years and is a fifth degree black belt in Isshinryu Karate.  Tom is a certified instructor through the A.I.K.A. (American Isshinryu Karate Association), O.I.K.A (Okinawa Isshinryu Karate Association), and also A.O.K.A. (American Okinawa Karate Assoiciation).

The award of higher level of Isshinryu Karate belts gives children a sense of achievement and accomplishment.  We keep this very much in mind.  The length of time for achieving belts can be from three to eight months.  We award strips on the belts while a child progresses through a particular belt.  Training for these tests enhances the child's ability to concentrate as well as plan for and triumph over hurdles.  This is an excellent reinforcement  of study techniques for school.

Quest Karate instruction also involves free-style competition (Sport Karate).  This helps develop a sense of fair play and sportsmanship in a controlled competitive situation.

The foundation of Quest Karate is its self defense value.  We are very careful to teach students to use common sense before self defense and to never be abusive or offensive.  The result of our program is a self-confident child who does not need to bully or show off to other children.

Quest Karate is a great place to have fun and to develop long lasting friendships.
